Chloe and Laura met in 2008 at Strathfieldsaye Primary School. They've been joined at the hip ever since. From 2 week long sleepovers in the school holidays, co-captaining their U17's netball team, making their debut together and spending countless hours dreaming of their future weddings. One thing is for certain, they're happiest when they're together.
Jonti can see just how special their friendship is and loves having Chloe over for dinner or coffee to catch up on the latest.
Laura can't wait to have Chloe standing beside her on their big day and every other day for the rest of their lives.
Brayden Redwood - Groomsman
Brayden and Jonti became friends in 2007 when they were placed in the same Year 7 classroom at Golden Square Secondary College. They have since enjoyed a long and meaningful friendship with no shortage of adventures along the way. Jonti considers Brayden to be the closest thing he has to a brother of his own, and is honoured to have him as part of the wedding party. Some highlights of their friendship include: Climbing Mount Bogong together, road tripping to Sydney for a soccer game, hilarious beach house trips, Skiing/Snowboarding at Mount Hotham, and meeting up in Rotorua, New Zealand with respective partners, Laura and Melissa.
Harriette Lukaitis - Bridesmaid
Harriette and Laura met while working at Sutton Grange Winery in 2015.
Along with Sundays in the Cellar Door, their favourite events to work together were weddings. Rushing to see the brides walk down the aisle, sneaking a peak at the first dance when they should have been polishing glasses... Not to mention rigging the break times so they could have 15 minutes to sit down and discuss the evening over a plate of wedding food leftovers.
Harriette has gone on to be Laura's "ride or die" friendship. Even though the've never lived in the same town, they've only ever been a phone call away. Her support has meant so much to Laura and she can't wait to have her be such a special part of their day.
Daine Stephenson - Groomsman
Daine is a beloved friend of both Jonti and Laura and has known Jonti for many years through the Strathfieldsaye Fire Brigade. Jonti and Laura love having Daine and his partner Eliza over for dinner and a fire as well as play dates with their dogs- Roxy and Maisy. The couple share many lovely memories with Daine and enjoy talking about each other’s future together. They feel very honoured to have Daine be a special part of this wedding.
Janina Ott - Bridesmaid
Janina and Laura were so lucky to be partnered together in a German exchange program in 2012. Nini quickly became Laura's German sister and since then, they've done some amazing things together.
Laura has visited Nini and her family in Germany 5 times in total, each time visiting a new, exciting place in Europe. The most recent visit saw Jonti getting to meet Laura's family away from home. Nini has returned the favour, visiting Laura on 2 different occasions, but Laura thinks the third will be the most special. To have her here on her wedding day will be an honour- all the way from Germany! They are both so grateful to have been paired together all those years ago and can't wait to celebrate this special day together.
Kurt Tonzing - Groomsman
A friend from the beginning, Jonti has known Kurt since birth; owing to the fact that their mothers Karen and Tanya are long time friends. Jonti and Kurt’s friendship began with being forced to attend eachother’s birthday parties as kids, but was reinvented when the pair began working together at McDonald’s over 15 years ago. Since then, both boys have enjoyed an overseas trip together to Thailand, countless hours of FIFA, more than a few cold beers, and endless hours of laughter and enjoyment. The bride and groom feel very lucky to have Kurt included within the wedding party.
Thomas Sayers - Groomsman
Jonti has known Thomas for 24 years. They met in Grade 1 at Spring Gully Primary School, and lived in the same neighbourhood. The boys grew up together, and would often ride their bikes through the bush and build forts using sticks and rocks. Their friendship has remained a constant as they have grown into adults, and they still enjoy catching up for a gluten free dinner and a game of blackjack in the city whenever they can. For Jonti, Thomas is that special friend everyone has where you know each other inside and out, riding the highs and lows together as the years keep counting. It is with great excitement that Thomas is able to be part of the wedding party on this special day.
Jessi Ott - Bridesmaid
Jessica is Nini's older sister, and completes the 3 McOttie sisters. Laura first met Jessi when she travelled to Germany for the first time in 2012 and stayed in her family home. They quickly became friends and have travelled a lot throughout the years. Jessi has spent Christmas in Australia with Laura's family, and recently Laura and Jonti got to spend Christmas in Germany with theirs. A trip they will cherish forever. One of Laura's favourite trips with Jessi was to Amsterdam in the Spring of 2018- they walked the canals of the city and enjoyed many Aperol Spritzs and platters. Aperols are still their favourite thing to drink together- and how special they'll get to share one together on their wedding day!
Connor O’Regan - Groomsman
Another lifelong friend, Jonti has known Connor since the beginning. Their fathers, Zane and Liam, attended the same college in New Zealand, while their mothers, Karen and Maria both worked at the same pharmacy in Bendigo. The butterfly effect would see both sets of parents meet and reside in Bendigo, with the rest becoming history. The two families would share many holidays to the snow together while both boys were young, and they share many memories of attending ski school together. Still to this day, skiing is a hobby they have enjoyed long into adulthood. There is no skiing partner Jonti enjoys hitting the slopes with more than Connor, and the added nights at the General Store and road trips listening to ‘peanut butter jelly’ are just an added bonus.
Ben Barkla - Bridesman
Ben and Laura met in 2009 when they were put in the same grade at high school and they’ve had a close friendship ever since. Through all the ups and downs of high school life they were always there for each other. They travelled to Europe together when they were 18 and Hawaii when they were 23 making lots of fun memories abroad. In recent years with Ben living in Melbourne, long FaceTimes have allowed them to keep up with each other’s life updates. There’s nothing quite like catching up in person, getting good food (or just some Topdeck choc) and having a yap. Laura is so exciting to share her big day with Ben.
